나전칠기를 사랑하시는 여러분들을 만나서 반갑습니다.
인사말
한국의 나전과 옻칠의 역사는 삼국시대 이전부터 다양한 종류의 유물에서 발견되어 중국과 일본에 영향을 주며 천년이 넘도록 일상과 작품에 응용되어왔고, 이제 예술작품에서도 매우 독특한 소재로 주목받고 있습니다.
저 명안삼은 1975년에 입문하여 지금까지 나전과 옻칠의 기능을 연마함에 법고창신(法古創新)의 정신으로 전통의 기법을 현대적 기물에 적용하는 작품 활동과 후학 양성에 정진하고 있습니다.
자연에서 얻어낸 재료인 옻칠과 자개의 물성을 이해하고 다루는 과정은 무한한 경험치가 요청되며, 그 축적된 기법은 앞으로도 예술과 공예에서 지속적인 발전을 위해 올바른 전수방법이 필요합니다.
이제 50년간 눈길과 손마디 하나하나에 익힌 기법을 저의 전수자들에게 전달하며 나전과 옻칠의 영롱함을 나누고 같이 즐기도록 노력하겠습니다.

Greeting
Mother of pearl and lacquer have a long history in Korea dating back to ancient times. Several pieces has been discovered as relics of Goryeo Dynasty (918~1392).
It is a way of decoration applied to everyday life and art works for thousands of years.
Now, it is getting attention as a very unique material in modern art also.
I, Ansam Myung, started in 1975 and have been honing the skills of mother-of-pearl and Ot lacquer until now in the spirit of '法古創新 - Create new from old‘, I am devoting myself to various activities that apply traditional techniques to modern objects and teaching younger students.
The process of understanding and handling the material properties of lacquer and mother-of-pearl, which are obtained from nature, requires infinite experience.
Moreover, it demands proper transition through accumulation of know-how through the generations to secure the continued prosperity in the future of fine art and art crafts.
Now, I will try to share the joy and brilliance of mother-of-pearl and lacquer craftsmanship with my students by passing on the techniques that I have mastered with observant eyes and honest hands for over 50 years.
